Mass Spec Lab Delivers Sensitive, High Accuracy Mass Spectrometry Technology to the California Bio-Sciences Community

IRVINE, CALIF. – DEC. 22, 2015 – Mass Spec Lab, a privately-owned, leading-edge analytical business, today announced the official company launch and new website.  Mass Spec Lab was conceived to address difficult analytical and regulatory challenges in the biomedical device,  pharmaceuticals  and fine chemicals industries by applying state-of-the-art mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS and GC/MS/MS) operated by seasoned post-doctorate level analytical scientists.

As the only private-industry mass spectrometry lab located in southern Calif. offering high-resolution, accurate mass QToF and high-sensitivity Triple-Quad mass spectrometry services, Mass Spec Lab solves the most difficult chemical analytical challenges to help clients meet their tight development and regulatory timelines. The multiple mass spectrometry technologies provide customers with precise quantitative and chemical structural analysis to aid in the detection of leachables and extractables for biomedical devices, analysis of precursors, by-products, contaminants, and degradants in pharmaceuticals and biotech, and contaminants (e.g., pesticides), and degradants for extracts, cosmeceuticals, and personal care products.

Mass Spec Lab analysis procedures can identify unknown chemical species that are difficult to detect and characterize using conventional HPLC/UV or GC/MS techniques.  Often, detection limits down to part-per-billion (ppb) levels can be achieved.

“Uninterpretable, poorly-designed, or off-the-mark studies are not in our vocabulary," said Mass Spec Lab's Dr. Marie Dvorak Christ.  "With 60% of U.S. venture capital and more than 2,800 life science companies, the California biosciences community demands and deserves world-class technical resources.  I have witnessed a strong trend toward increased outsourcing - not only by “virtual” start-ups but also by bricks-and-mortar Forbes 500 companies.   In response,  I created Mass Spec Lab to meet this growing need for high end analytical services with the goal of providing sophisticated analytical instrumentation, highly trained scientists, and a philosophy of services customized to each client’s individual needs.  Dr. Christ continued.

"Rarely found outside big pharma, a Xevo G2-S QTof mass spectrometer (Waters) was selected as Mass Spec Lab’s flagship high-resolution MS/MS instrument because it provides both sensitive quantitation and unsurpassed capabilities in chemical identification and structural elucidation," Dr. Christ said.  "The Mass Spec Lab team of Ph.D. analysts and senior advisors has the critical mass to address the problem core issues, effectively execute the devised analytical strategy, and meet our client's aggressive timelines,” Dr. Christ concluded.

About Mass Spec Lab
